- Q&A

"You're not who you think you are."

'Awakening' is a film about two different stories, depicting two very different characters - played by two actors. The story has a uniquely non-linear narrative, and a very original structure.

Michael Clair is not a nice person. A successful business executive, he takes pride in bullying his employees and cheating on his wife. However, Michael's life undergoes a radical transformation after an encounter with a homeless bum; Christopher, who not only knows about Michael's affair, but also knows everything else about Michael's life that only Michael could possibly know.

"None of us are. You're not you…"

Over a period of time, Michael loses his position of power, loses his job and is divorced from his wife who discovers he's been cheating on her. At the same time, we witness Christopher's own transformation - after Michael gets him a job at his workplace, he soon works his way up to overtake Michael's previous position at the company.

Overlapping this story is a second story about two wandering homeless men - Philip and Sam - played by the same actors who portray Michael and Christopher. Philip is an enlightened being, who claims to have reincarnated throughout mankind's history - he has sacred information and is on a quest to help mankind.

"You're not you're personality, your name, your ego, your body, your job…"

Sam, his faithful servant, will do whatever he can to help Philip on his mission - but this leads to dark and disturbing consequences that will challenge both men's faith in each other.

Both stories intertwine over a period of weeks, months and years - all four characters are somehow connected by one astonishing revelation that will change all their lives forever.

"We are all one consciousness, observing life in this physical reality, this illusion…"
